Local dealer has a 110 part ex that they have offered me "as is" (no warranty)

l am not sure of the value. lf l don't want it they said it will probably go "to the auction" rather than them retailing it.

It's a 110 Stationwagon in the base specification (no central locking or electric windows)
Year 2000 so 10p and earlier dash.
Mileage 38,000

Ex mountain rescue so still has all the gear on it, external roll cage, chequer plate in the back, 5 vinyl seats but no side facing seats. Various lights and equipment screwed to the dash etc.

Chassis is good except for rear crossmember and mid crossmember need doing.
On rusty steels with off road tyres
Headlining and interior is acceptable but tatty from 20 year mountain rescue use.

No damage underneath.

Bubbling in rear wings, lower front wing panels ahead of doors, triangle panels behind rear doors. Doors look okay. Floors look okay.
Haven't driven it but should be okay at that mileage.
In white with mountain rescue livery.

Value?
£8,000?

l can see maybe £2,000 in chassis and bodywork repair. The external roll cage would be a pain to remove as you'd have to fill in all the holes left by the mountings.

Maybe leave it in the mountain rescue livery with the roll cage and roof lights etc. But just don't take it into the hills or else you'd keep getting stopped and asked for help lol

Maybe slightly less? eBay completed listings rather than wishful thinkers on the classifieds...

It's a slightly tatty td5 csw with some mods that would not appeal to the "I've got some money and want to drive my kids around in a landrover" crowd.

That also needs chassis work. So, yeah, I reckon less.

That said, if you do buy it, and want to flog the cage, let me know...
 
I would say, ask them what they took it in at, as they may have given a bit over the odds to get their sale. Then they pop it in an auction for somebody to overpay for what it is actually worth.

The rear crossmember is doable, but doesn’t the rear tub need to come off to do the mid crossmember?

No. You chop up the old one however you like to get it out, and then a take off the triangle by the c post.

Replacement cross members have the brackets that bolt on, rather than are welded on, so you can then slide them in though the triangle bit, and bolt on the brackets when they're in place.

You couldn't get a welded one in like this, but, again, the replacements are all bolted brackets for exactly this reason.
 
When l did the mid crossmember on my 110 TD5, l fitted the new one by taking out the bolt-in floor panel. l had to cut the corners off two unused brackets on the top of the chassis, apparently only used on the truck cab version.

l managed to fit the four long centre bolts although l had to drill a hole right at the edge of the bodywork to get two of them in. (covered up when the floor panel was refitted)

I watched an ex mountain rescue 110 station wagon in similar spec go for a lot more back in the early summer. It also had a low mileage but didn’t need the work. I think it also didn’t have the roll cage.
 
This one needs a lot of love. lt would be a great project but everything needs doing.

The external roll cage is a bit of a stinker, although it doesn't look too bad. lt would probably have to stay.

At least you'd be safer in a roll over.

I would have said 8k minimum tbh.
What does "all the gear" mean ?
Its low mileage and maintained.

You could take all the gear off flog it fix it and still have an 8k landrover.
 
The only gear worth anything would be the external roll bar, and possibly the light bar with sirens etc.

It's got all sorts of bits and pieces inside that aren't really any use, such as parts of radio equipment and brackets, but will leave holes in the dash when removed.

lt's basically a sound 110 that would be best used for similar to what it's spent the last 20 years doing.

lt would be a great retirement project, sadly l am not yet retired.
The problem is, l can see £5,000 to put it all right and if you add that to the £8-10,000 price you could buy one that's in better condition.

l looked at a lovely 110 last month that was on sale at £17,000 ONO.
lt was an XS Station wagon and was in very good condition although it had done more mileage.
No bubbling or corrosion issue at all, rear crossmember perfect, interior clean (only been used as a car)

l'll see what price they come back with for the vehicle tomorrow.
 
Depending on what sort of price they come back with, and just how they view you.
They might just let it go cheap and save all the trouble of sending it to the auctions.
Or they may view you as some sort of gullible walking wallet.
If they come back with sme extortionate price, and an inflexible attitude, walk away.
You could always go and bid on it at auction, you might just get lucky.
 
l've called again today but they haven't given me a price. l might go and have a drive of it to see how it drives.

They've looked after it for Mountain Rescue and said "everything it ever needed mechanically was done"
 
Looks like there’s a soon to be ex-mountain rescue 110 utility station wagon coming up for sale elsewhere in this section… 🤔😁
