I have just fitted a heavy duty valeo clutch to my 300tdi 90. So far I have always fitted standard Borg & Beck clutches but they don't last very long so this time i went for the HD one. to my chagrin, if i put my foot down, the bugger slips. So I pulled the engine out yet again (a day after I had put the whole darn thing together) and could find nothing wrong. I work in a machine shop and my boss told me to bring the flywheel in for a skim. Am I right in believing that since the Vaelo clutch plate is approx 6mm larger in diameter than the standard plate, the edge of the clutch plate is touching an area of the flywheel that has never had a clutch rub against it and is not finding a smooth surface?
