So Martin, if I have a '97 4.6 how can I tell whether it's a WYF? Confess am occasionally concerned about the slippage issue.
Also, it has to be said, most threads on here are regarding the diesel lump - or is that just because there's more around in the vehicle parc?
There will be a serial number on the side of the block (just above where the sump meets the block). Pretty sure yours will be a WYF (West Yorkshire Foundry) being a Gems. Pretty sure the LCF blocks were the last 3-4 years of the rover V8 production. There's cases of all 94mm bore V8's slipping liners, just appears to be the later blocks that give the most trouble.
