Hi,
Came to the old V8 last week (after a couple of months of sitting idle), and whilst I was waiting for the battery to charge a little I dipped the oil.
As soon as I had the smell of petrol was very obvious and the level was most of the way up the dipstick !!
Now I knew that after I had a faulty alarm/immobiliser removed the electric fuel pump had been left permanently live but it was a job "to get around too" so I just remove the connector after each use.... but the last use was in 3 ft of snow and I forgot so its probably (certainly) been left that way for 2 months until the battery went flat.
Long story short I know I need to drain the oil and change the filter asap but will a single change then run to temp then drain again be enough?
Is there some kind of extra flush required ?
Should I be adding any type of oil into the cylinders before I start it up ?
Is it likely to have done any damage whist sitting idle ?
What would you do ?
(I plan to pull apart the carb (Eidelbrock/holly) and check the floats for holes as I suspect that is the secondary problem to the fuel pump so I hope that will sort it out. )
