Ar dunno i miss me v8 :(
Maybe, but its just sooo easy to get into a TDI,turn the key and it goes - the same as it did last time, with half decent fuel consumption and 3-400k lifetime. No slipped liners/cracked block etc, maybe the odd headgasket or coolant leak from a P gasket - but overall less hassle.

True but i still miss it... :tears: :D

time will help,I've bin driving TDI's for so long now - and making a living fixing knackered v8's for so long now its like water off a duck's back.
I do have a customer with a Cobra rep - 8.9ltr BB Ford motor which I enjoy a quick thrash in now and again, then I happily drive around in my IIa 2 1/4 soft top, back and forth to work and up the village.(Till it gets too cold/wet and the dark nights arrive.)

I got a 93 200tdi disco and a 99 520se im thinkng bout getting rid of em and buying a good 300tdi but its finding a good un

True,I decided to spend the time welding a new boot floor, sides and rear arches into mine - for what it cost me I reckon it was worth the effort. It only has 170k on it,uses no oil or water, has 7 seats and will tow 3.5 tonnes - RELIABLY. I know what it can and cant do,(Which isnt much that I need.) So I'll keep using it,another 5 odd years if I can,the biggest problem is what to replace it with......

I think the problem i'll have is i'll be comparing any 300tdi to the mileage/age/condition/price to me v8 and i reckon its a tall order to fill but you never know... i keep looking

Its all out there,as you say keep looking.I bought a 72 S111 swb to rebuild, going to do a galv chassis/bulkhead etc with soft top.The engine will be a 200TDI from a RRC I used to own,its done 242k,fantastic engine, with a new t belt and crank seals I'll just carry on using it.(Wot LR's were supposed to be for in the old days...)

Its classed as a business asset, buy parts or pay tax - dunt make sense not to do it.I dont intend doing anything else for a while so it seems sensible to do something legal that I can enjoy too. There has to be some advantages to running a business, collecting vat for HMRC is not a pleasant task at times.
