Hi

Thought id post in here as well as the intro section ;)

Ive just got myself a 1950 80" project some pictures of the chassis in the above section as well as the as the details of the parts ect from the sales advert and I could be doing with some advice on fitting the v8.....

Ive been informed to raise the engine up couple of inches from the engine mounts & modify the bulkhead and ehhhh the lt87 box wont fit !!!

What gearbox should I use??

Is there any other info tips and parts to use that you lads can advise me on its totally stripped so just I will just buy what I need & sell off what I cant use...

Thanks Kev ;)

you'll need an adaptor plate to make it fit, custom spigot bush as the series input shaft is something like 21.75mm (5/8th") and the crank is 24mm so you have to turn one on the lathe as well as a drift to get it in properly

V8 flywheel also needs drilling to take series clutch plate, footwell needs cutting on passenger side, raising engine is to stop sump smacking on the axle, buy engine mounts from Richards Chassis £36 posted by special delivery or if you're down there £20 cash in hand

I had a sd1 v8 and 2a box in a 80 inch (not on the road)

the sump and pick up pipe were cut and altered
it had a remote oil filter but got smashed off and replaced buy a small filter off a renault which was smaller than remote housing

the rad was in the back but i have seen them in the front without changing the front end

I allso put a near side manifold on the off side and took the exhaust round the front of the sump to join with the NS at the end of the down pipe,

sit the engine and box in the chassis on stands with bulk head on , chop and move every thing until it fits

Thanks Matey exactly what I was looking for where do I source an adapter plate for the series box & whats the lt box worth to you or l may do a deal on other parts that I need :)

seems a shame to me to chop a series 1 ,2.5 petrol would be easy fit and have plenty of power

I Don't really want to chop it up I am having major doubts now and need to look at the resale factor who wants a v8 these days?? a standard-ish series 1 may be more appealing but the fun is in the build and the sound of the v8 cant be beaten, im undecided but if I get a good price for the
snatch v8 & box then il go another route. ;)

You can tune the 2 1/4 and with the right exhaust will sound sweet

alot less hastle than fitting a v8
