Hurst road in Walton on Thames was a great job for digging up German bombs that hadn't exploded in the old reservoirs, I dug up several, I used to get a lot of the archaeology strips when we were starting new quarries, we did a strip near Datchet for CEMEX where they were extracting gravel for the terminal 5 project, that saw us find loads of Roman pottery, gold coins, bones, fire pits etc, really interesting that it was barely 100mm below the surface of the topsoil, I found a grave site from the black plague in Windsor, had it not been for the basement dig we would have never dug that deep.
I try to keep my smoking to a minimum, but we can smoke in the machines, they are not that strict, I prefer to be busy to make the day go faster, I like laying deep drainage, drag boxes and big pipe, day just flies by!
