Had a V6 Guzzler with an added HG failure for over a year.

Finally got rid, lucky or what, ye cant give these things away, they drink more juice than a alcholic glaswegian tribe, got myself a great px on a TD4 and what a beauty, came with 1/2 a tank of doozle, drove past more petrol stations in a week without having to stop to feed the greedy bugger, feels fantastic.

Moral of the story to any newbie thinking Landys, DONT GET A V6 FFS!!!!

:) :clap2:

Turbo Deisel = win all the way

We have our Freelander TD4 and also a 2004 TDCi Focus estate. The Focus averages about 60mpg! Admitedly it's not a Landy and it's got a funny blue oval badge on the front but there you go.

I'd never go back to petrol engines and a V6 is just silly (unless you have a) your own petrol refinery or b) not many miles to drive and a big wallet :fish:)

wanna try a v8 then

ooh! :D

Did you see that Top Gear episode a couple of months ago with not only the car with the 27 litre Spitfire engine in it (*ahem* old hat, very cool but seen before) but also that looney car powered by the engine from a JU88? The hot oil-spitting 46-litre V12 BMW Brutus.

Now that's a petrol engine!

The best engine in the Freebie by far :)

You know about MAF, EGR, Crankshaft sensors, turbos hoses, injectors, leak back tests, HP pumps, LP pumps, etc don't you ;) :)

If not, all the information you need is on here and all of that is owner fixable with the support on here :)

Disagree - I get 27 mpg out of my V6. Loads of power, doesn't run hot. Got a bad reputation based on the 4 pot petrol, although the engines have almost nothing in common. Of course, a few have HG problems, but you find me a car which never suffers from this when abused. People think it's a LR so don't bother with maintenance - low coolant, old oil etc
