Oh yes and through the light. The buld was fine but did'nt illuminate so the wiring problem is clealy with that wire. So surly all ive done is cut out the problem?
And what problem have I now created?
lots of info if you want to see how alts work.
you need the bulb or a suitable resistor, they aren't designed for 12v.
doubtful it'll explode into flames, but you could end up killing your alt.. which tbf isn't going to be too happy not having an exciter all this time.
all you really need to do is unscrew the two screws on the dash where the lamps are and see if the bulb is blown.. swap it for another
Yu know nothing. Just connect the power to ignition live and put a 5watt bulb in the line to the Alternator and all will be fine.
I have no intention if helping yu further. You ask the Q and then ignore advice.
On your own head be it.
go take the lamp bit out of the dash, remove the bulb, stick multi in and check for 12v, etc . it'll be quicker or just leave it. it might work for a bit, might not.. your choice

Also done that and nothing. Im not getting any power to the lamp.
