Hi all,
I've just changed my seats in my TD5 2001 to electric, heated and leather. The fitting proved to be without problem and all the electric loom was already in my car, great. But, as I expected the electrics do not work. I've been told that they need to be programmed into the ECU and switched on.
This being correct, does anyone know where I can either hire the necessary equipment or someone in my area who can do this for me. Oh! I live in Livingston, West Lothian and can travel say around 50 miles to have it done.
Your help is appreciated.

Yes, they must be enabled in the BCU settings... two options available(beside the "None" ) so if you get to the tester decide which you want cos one of these must be confirmed:
1. Normal = Electric seat adjustment is available for 45 seconds after the driver's door opens or if the ignition is on.
2. Ignition II = Electric seat adjustment is available only if the ignition is on.

Thanks Sierrafery, your advice was top drawer, I found an enthusiast with a Hawkeye close by and he managed to get them going with your advice.
Thanks again, Marksawbridge.
Oh and thanks to all who have helped, my problem solved with the help of generous people.

is their anyone local that could activate mine. I'm in Hinckley Leicestershire. do they have to be fitted first or can it be activated before the upgrades are fitted?

have fitted the seats need to get the bcu activated now but no garage seems to have the ability near me.
does anyone know where i can get a wiring diagram for the seats as i need to put power to the drivers seat to adjust it until the bcu is done.
having to drive in a cross between an old granddad or woman with head over the steering wheel

I've just scrapped a range rover cos I couldn't find anyone locally with a code reader to find the air bag fault
Sorry mate lol . You know for next time lol. I'm not sure I've got the rr unlock code but I don't think they are too expensive to buy. You can pick up a p38 cheap now days

200???? What was wrong with it; doesn' look too shabby
Crap starting and wasn't the glow plugs or leak off pipes, gear linkage worn, srs bulbs removed cos the previous owner couldn't diagnose the problem, front axle needed a rebuild and worst of all it stank of wet dog :D if she'd been honest and upfront I could have saved myself a load of hassle.

I'm sure you could fix it :D can you not swap for springs like on a disco?
I don't know what they're worth when they're working? If worth fixing or not did you ever find out the starting issue?
