Evening all, further to my recent post on the gear problem ive discovered something new to me. gear stick goes into gear, start engine still goes into gear but wont move the landy, ive fitted a new slave cylinder yesterday as old one was almost seized, Here goes for the interesting part, after removing gear lever i could look through small inspection plate, what i found was the release bearing was rusted and not moving. Have now managed to free that. I get all messages about clutch rusted to flywheel, if this is the case how do free it and how do i no that its free, Im separating gb tommorow so i can look inside. Any help would be much appreciated. Andy

Assuming by "won't move the landy" you mean there's no drive.... Several possibles - clutch springs are weak or the clutch plate is worn out and you're getting extreme clutch slip. (Clutch plate rusted to flywheel would give you drive you couldn't release.) You might be able to see the clutch plate not moving as the cover plate rotates, through the inspection hole.
2/4 wd lever (yellow knob) or operating mechanism is in a mid position and you haven't engaged either.
Driveshaft snapped (is the propshaft rotating?)
gearbox/transfer box failure. - clutch cover and friction plate both rotating together.

So the clutch cover plate is moving (with the flywheel) but the friction plate isn't? Sounds like it's time for a new clutch. Not the most horrible job as long as the seat box comes out easily. It's possible to drop the gearbox with the seat box still in but it's quite fiddly.
