So I'm driving along this bumpy ass road all of a sudden intense vibrations, banging on the rear off side and banging on the underside of the cab, engine really loud and low on power...FFS!! Get out to find this....!

Completely sheered off!!! I knew it had a slit around it a bit of the way but I gave it a few good old taps and it seemed really solid, just loses compression...wasn't expecting this ****!:frusty:

So at the side of the road in 90degree heat I had to take the back wheel off and try to wiggle it out which was only really a problem as I was proper nervy with it being jacked up on dodgy ground, covered in crap lol

ideal project for side exhaust now :D
Nah if you notice the rear section is brand new, I installed it a week ago! Had a couple of complaints from the neighbours, and to be honest its sounds so much nicer now and runs so much smoother, and is only quiet at idle, still purrs like a baby panther:D If I had known however this was gonna happen Id have bought a middle section silencer and then brought it up and out through the side....looks so bad ass!

Looks like its been blowing for ages .
Yeah it has by the looks of it, the outside of the pipe is almost as black as the inside!

Okay so I'm faced with two choices...
I can either clean the centre pipe up and weld it back together OR!
I can order a centre muffler off ebay for £46!
My only concern, and I need some input here, is will having a rear and centre muffler reduce my performance, obviously it will be even quieter but will I lose power cause it runs just lovely with a straight centre pipe and a rear muffler but then I wouldn't know any better cause I've never had dual silencers...? Can anyone offer any input?

get a mid section silencer replacement pipe job done, I removed my mid silencer while ago sounds bit better and I would say my fuel consumption has improved ie; extra 30-40 miles per tank full . no way i'd put the mid silencer back on ;)

Dont spose you know anywhere that sells them at a reasonable price for a straight piece of pipe do you?
I cant find them...All I can find is the centre silencer or the straight pipe for the 300 tdi or td5:confused2:

If you can weld just make one up. That's all I did. I removed front and rear mufflers. But left cat on. Doesn't sound load in the cab stall but a nice rumble from outside when driving. Performance I haven't noticed because wheels n tyres changed at same time.

I knew it had a slit around it a bit of the way

And there we have it. Not so 'Unfecking believable'. Now is the time to join the 'round tuit' owners club to avoid this sort of thing. I speak from experience as one of its older members:)
