Dear forum folk,

The lock on my 2006 D90 stopped letting the key in and only worked through the central locking, so I bought a set of 3 door lock barrels with a separate starter barrel to match them all to one key.

The product in the internet shop was called "DEF TD5 / PUMA 2002 ONWARDS IGNITION BARREL+ 3 MATCHING LOCKS" under the code LR052050. It was the exact set like below:

As the name of the product says "TD5/PUMA 2002 onward" and my truck is from 2006, I thought it's the right set. Imagine my surprise when we took the barrel out, we discovered it was smaller than those currently installed (the above one is the old one:D):

My current key looks like this and it's metal part is of the same length as on the new one:

Is this a mistake on my side or did they send me the wrong set? Hope someone can explain this to me:)

Thanks for the answer, Retroanaconda. Do You mean I could take that part off and put it on the new barrel? (Feeling a little stupid here)

Having just gone through this with my son's 2001 TD5 110 I can pretty much say you have bought the right lock. The plastic outer will slide off the old barrel to be reused, get a wire brush and gently clean around the area at the bottom of the old lock and you will find the brass pin holding the bottom bit on, push the brass pin in and remove the bottom bit, clean it up, re-grease it and push it onto the new lock until the brass pin clicks into place. As far as I'm aware - as in "never heard of it mate" or "you want what?" the bit at the bottom and the sleeve aren't available anymore, however if someone knows better and could point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful!

Mick, thank You very much!!

I've been googling that sleeve for days now.. have seen all the schematic drawings of parts - nowhere is that part mentioned with a code. This was the best explanation I've found out of a 300TDI manual:

I didn't find anything about this in the rather pricey TD5 workshow manual. I will attempt this job in the coming weeks and report back. Glad Your campaign was successful:)
