OK so lack of power and a funny noise under load... Didn't need much more of an excuse to get the head off, I already have a 2.5 head in the wings ready to make me unleaded. Head bolts taken out in order, some came easy some not so. Torqued up all different then! Head gasket well gone between one and two but the big surprise was that this was formerly a DIESEL engine head gasket. The semi-circular hot spot pressings are clearly visible, I must post a photo of it. who would even consider using a second hand gasket!
For the 2.5 head I ordered a 'conversion kit' which is basically a set of metric studs and bolts so as to fit the manifold and thermostat housing, this including £6 postage and VAT came to £96....that's more than the bloody head cost. So an unbelievable day today.... . . . . . . . . . .
