I've looked at this 'thing' half a dozen times and whilst I don't like it I kept feeling that I'd seen something like it before.
I've just realised -
It's like the prototype cars that you see around the factories or in the glossy car mags when manufacturers are close to launching a new model but they camouflage them with tape and fake panels to hide the real styling until the launch date. That's what this looks like to me, a deliberate attempt to hide a car's styling even to make it ugly to hide what's really underneath.
