Are you sure the STT’s weren’t 31.x”? I have some in the shed and there is no way they are over 32” tall. And I’ve not worn an inch and a quarter of tread off them.

I measured my BFG ATs at 32" on std LWB/110 rims. I've got them on now and I've also got one on a modular (6 or 7J?) I'll do some measuring and report back.

I think it is actually hard to measure a tyre accurately, due to the shape. You'd really need a slider or something to know you are measuring the top and not looking at the measure from an angle.

Ok, not wanting to dispute you, but 32" 5/8th is a lot bigger than any 235 tyre I've seen rated or measured. If it was 31" 5/8ths I'd believe it.100% 235/85 r16

I'm currently running a set of Bronco Grizzly Claws in 285/75R16, I've measured these and they are shy of 33", but a lot taller than the Cooper STT's.
235/85R16 Cooper STT and a 33" Simex. The Cooper is a lot shorter.

These are my coopers next to the 225/75 r15 that came off.
According to tyre size calculator the 225/75 r15 is only 9/16 smaller than stock 235/70 r16, they're a huge tyre in comparison.

A 225/75R16 by the numbers should be 29.29" where as by the numbers a 235/85R16 should be 31.73"
Are you sure your STT isn't a 255/85R16? By the numbers these should be 33.07"
Looking at the Cooper site for the current STT Pro in 235/85R16, they are way smaller than what you are quoting. Just seems really odd otherwise.

I've done some measuring:
All 235/85 16
BFG AT nearly new on LWB / 110 tube rim 32 1/4
BFG AT nearly new on modular wheel (7J?) 31 1/2
YKX on LWB / 110 tube rim 31 1/2
The BFG AT are definately a bigger dia than the YKS (it came off a Discovery) but the rim width makes a big differnce to the overall dia for the BFG ATs

When I got my Landy, it was on 235/85 R16 tyres. The car looked like a German Shepherd puppy with huge paws and was a nightmare to steer. Nowadays, my S3 sports Micheline Latitude Cross on new tubeless OE wheels. Great for spring-to-autumn use up here, and on-road, if you don't want to climb mountains. My (highly personal) view is that wheels and tyres are not supposed to be some cheap cr*p anyway, it is a matter of safety. Oh, and it has been tested on farms as well, so I can strongly recommend this solution.
