I got 205 /16 tyres on my series 1 been offered some 235 s what is the pros and cons of fitting wider tyre it's a standard 2 litre petrol

Well, for a start they will probably look wrong on a series 1. Also, they may not fit without using spacers and the extra rolling friction will rob some of the engines power.

I would advise driving it awhile 1st unless current tyres unsafe if it struggles with the 205's on then the
235's to big for a 2l petrol.
What is the other numbers ie 235/80R have a look at this chart.
1986 when I made the mistake of selling my 86"series 1not sure what tyre size was but they seem to fill the wheel arch in this pic.

Thanks for the reply I thought they would be to wide but are cheap and only a mile away

they are too wide for 5" landy steels for sure
