Tyres running winter in summer.

Just noticed my 3 door has winter tyres on the rear and the front tyres have no description summer or winter, seems a bit odd but that is how they were when i bought it last year. If i need to remove the winter tyres (summer running) guess i'll have to buy 4 new tryes now and 4 new winter ones when winter comes around. The handling doe not seem to be affected by the mis match but then i have nothing to judge this against.

from what my mechanic nephew tells me you need to keep all 4 corners within 3mm of each other or it will star to chew through the diffs so id deff swapp all 4, i just got 4 decent looking 215/80/r15, on/off road jobies for £48 a corner + delivery (came next working day) they are only remoulds but feel normal enough on the road fairly quiet id mention what and where from but id only get accused of spamming again by the self richous on here...

Are remoulds legal in the UK?

well if the OP is interested im sure hell PM me, and true spellin aint my biggest forte..

and the garage where i had them fitted didnt seem to think it was an issue, in fact they were impressed with the quality and price nor did the tyres come witgh a disclaimer etc, but at the end of the day its only a work bus the freebie isnt putting 100s of miles or fast motorway driving and my budgets these days doesnt run into the best of the best...

First of all, there are no such things as "winter" or "summer" tyres. Tyres marked with M+S, are tyres that are designed to give adequate traction at temperatures below 7 degrees. These have a higher percentage of silicone in their compound than non M+S marked tyres, making them slightly softer, to offer better grip when cold, but at the expense of tyre life. Most all terrain tyres are marked M+S. Secondly, in relation to a couple of previous posts, remould tyres are perfectly legal in the UK. Insa Turbo are a well known manufacturer of remoulds. Part worn tyres can also be legally sold and fitted as long as they have at least 1.6mm of tread across the centre 3/4 of the tyre, and have no cuts of bulges that would render any other tyre unroadworthy.
