Hello...this is my first (question) post...please be gentle!

I bought my first ever Landy exactly 12 months ago when I acquired a new Defender 90 SW. Solihull fitted Continental Cross-Contact ATs as the OE tyres. The vast majority of my use of the Defender is on tarmac with only about 5% being off road fun. I've now covered 8500 miles. Can anyone offer a view on the likely mileage that I'll get from these tyres before they need replacing. Also, what alternative tyres would you recommend as an all terrain option.

Thanks a lot

Contis are a very good tyre, should last well, but tyre life is entirely a function of driving style.
Hopefully they will last long enough to get you to the Introduce Yourself section at the top of lz homepage! ;)

I fitted a set of Continental Cross Contact to my 90 last June. 14 months and 33,000 miles later they are worn out.

However I do a lot of miles on gravel forest roads so I am assuming this is the reason for the short life as everything else I have read has lead me to believe they would have a good life expectancy. I think used on the road they probably will.

Just this morning I have fitted a set of BFG All Terrains, we'll see how long these last.

Good info based on experience! :)
I would think 33k is quite good for tyre life, although the sort of use I do is probably quite hard on them.
If I had done 33k in 14 months in a 90, I would be more worried about the life of my lower back than about the tyres! :(
