Hi Everyone

Yes unfortunately I am a complete noobie to Freelanders and need a little help with a problem I have with tyre size on stock 17 inch rims .. I have had my Freelander for just over 12 months and TBH It has never let me down and its great over here with the British weather as its not that demanding on the freelander ..My problem is that im going to be travelling to Europe beginning 2015 for afew months to stay with family who live in a remote village whose winter months have weather down to -30 and severe snow falls ..As I don't want to be stuck there or stranded in a snow drift I would like to change my tyres to be on the safe side ..I have had alook and did abit of research so let me tell you and if possible advise me please

  • 265 70 17 AT TYRES
  • 2 inch lift kit extended brake hoses
  • 30mm spacers
that's about it I don't know if its possible but it would really help me out if you guys know ..

I have similar mods. But my lift is only 40mm. I cannot see those tyres fitting the rims let alone getting them in the wheel arches, they may foul the macpherson struts.

In snow you want to go narrow so it bites down deep not wide.

I have 225/65 R17 General Grabber AT tyres on my Evolution rims. They rub a bit at the back.

I have Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme 215/70 R16 on my winter alloys at the moment. You would be better off with proper winter tyres and possibly snow chains, so you would need to take clearance issues for the links on the sides of the tyres into consideration.

Having driven in snow, you will need plenty of room for the snow to clear or it will all get bunged up.

To get larger tyres to fit without any clearance issues you will have to modify the inner wing area.

Too big. I've got 255/55/18 on mine. They need lots of mods and poke out the arches a bit. They physically touch the third brake light on the tailgate too

I was looking for your tyre size DD to compare.... But you have saved me the trouble!

I had a set of 265/75 r 15 wheels and tyres next to mine...... They looked mahoosive and very unlikely to fit! Shame though cuz it woulda looked Awesome!
