hello its time for some new tyres on my 110.
looking at 285 special tracks, is there any other equally agressive 285 worth considering? how do the maxxis range compare?
and what is the best price around?
many thanks brock
Been through the tyre and rim decision making process myself over the past week, and I don't envy you
Was looking for four muds on black steel modular rims. Ended up going with these coopers, but locally rather than through this site:
265/75 R 16 Cooper Discoverer STT
My local garage here in Carms, Wales, charged me £600 total (includes VAT). That includes the cost or tyres, rims, balancing and fitting. Everything!
Very nearly went for these from Craddocks, who are also very good on price. The price includes delivery but DOESN'T include VAT, so add something to your basket to get the true price:
265/75R16 INSA TURBO DAKAR FITTED ON 7X16 BLACK MODULARS SET OF 4 INCLUDES DELIVERY TO UK MAINLAND (RESTRICTIONS APPLY) - APD0072 - Land Rover Parts & Range Rover Parts Decided against it due to these being remoulds and the fact that Coopers were only £80 more to be fitted locally.
Incidentally, if you're thinking of Kuhmo's (KL71'sa for example) then this piece of info I extracted from a dealer might be useful: Kuhmo has been taken over by a bank, and in this period they're prioritising the more profitable ranges i.e. road tyres. Apparently they've slowed down production of 4X4 type tyres completely, with only the occasional bulk batch making it's way over here. Dealer said that it may soon be difficult to find a spare if you need one.
My firend, who uses muds all the time for his business would recommend over any other mud Goodyear Wrangler MTR's (fantastically strong side walls & great tread
pattern with side bars - American made & really expensive at the moment.)
I hope some of that helps.
