tyre pressures

Hi folks
I know the handbook states 30 psi in all circumstances but I find this wears the edges of the tyres as if underinflated also do you guys increase the pressure for towing , I know what we would have done when I was fitting tyres but after reading how pressures could affect vcu I,m not so sure now any advice appreciated

I'm running Cooper Discoverer ATs 195/80 R15 at 35 psi for over a year, I check tyre pressure every 2/3 weeks and all ok with the VCU

So far as the VCU is concerned it just needs all the tyres to be the same - ie dimensions and pressure. So I wouldn't have thought the PSI matters for that.

FYI, I'm running GT Radial Maxmilers 195 (80) R15 at 40PSI which is the manufacturers recommendation (according to the tyre shops). I'm 2WD currently but would consider/use these on 4WD.

I run my tyres (215/65/16) at the recommended 30 psi. The outside edges do get more wear than the middle. Being a heavy, high centre of gravity car, that's not surprising.
I did find that running the tyres at 32 psi results in the center wearing faster than the edges.

I'm running on 18/245/45 for the last 15mth with 32psi and have even wear all round.

Thanks for the advice, think I,'ll up the pressures to even up the tyre wear especially whilst towing .

I'm running 205/75-15 Grabber AT2's at 33psi for normal road use, plus another 3 psi when towing. Caravan is a Sprite Challenger 500, about 1400 k in normal trim
