Hi, I've tried a search but couldn't find the answer.
I've got a defender 90 with bf goodrich all terrain t/a raja champion tyres. LT 235/85 R16 120/116s written on them.
I'm not sure what the pressures should be. Going for a long drive and off roading pay and play on Sunday. Wanna make sure my pressures are correct.
Can anyone advise what my tyre pressures should be?

Don't want to hijack the thread but whilst reading it got me thinking I better check my pressures, anyone know what I should have in 285,75,16's (pretty knobbly) on a defender 90, doing a lot of unexpected motorway driving at the min as well, if that has any bearing. Thanks Mark

I run 30 front and 28 rear, no motorway though.
I feel like I can run then with a little less, especially the rear.

I run my tyres at 28psi all the time

Folks - a question.

Manual on my XS 110 (2005) says 32/49 for normal usage. Just picked her up recently from independent 'specialist' and they're at 32/43.

Have seen the 'chalk test' thread and will give that a go once the snow has gone.

Just for my own curiosity..... why does the manual quote such a high rear pressure which seems to be at odd s with everyone elses views. Have LR got it wrong, or are they working off an 'on - road' set of pressures ?

My tyres are 235/85 r16 Grabber TR's

Cheers,

Jon

My LR manual has fairly high tyre pressures in it (although I do run it at those pressures) but it does have two - one for heavy loads and one for not. The heavy loads was about 45psi, from what I remember, on the rear.

Thanks Ed,

My heavy loads pressure is something well over 50psi in the manual (which I'm completely ignoring). Don't have the manual in front of me at the mo, so can't remember exactly what it was.

Does just seem overly high..... Reckoning on 30/40 being about right (and easy to remember) :)

Well considering the maximum pressure on my BFGs is <60psi I wouldn't particularly like to run it over 50.

I think the major problem with running which high-pressures in the tyre are if you hit something at speed then you're likely to pop the tyre of the rim. I tend to go visually on the tyres but I think that all are running at about 35psi but then again most of the time when I'm in London there are 9 people in the back so fairly heavy.

Never noticed the tyres struggling with the load but the suspension (with a dud self-levelling unit) has been.
