tyre pressure, confused!!

think most of us fiddle with the trye pressures, and find what suits us. personally i put a bit more in the front and a bit less in the back. normally run with 30 front 36 rear. works for me.

But is that when hauling/towing trailer? but what about when empty( just people back and forth to work) surley the front axle has more weight than rear axle.

Yeah it has but the weight on the front axle does not change overly when the car is loaded, the weight on the rear axle does. That is why people change pressure to suit themselves. If they drive light all the time dropping the rear pressure makes the ride a little less harsh. Specially if you use larger wheels and silly tyres. Personally i run mine as specified. Runniing lower pressures uses marginally more fuel. Think i also remember from somewhere that (at least in UK) it is actually illegal not to have correct tyre pressures.

Here on my truck ( diesel) my recommend tyre psi is 60-80psi depending on loading, Truck is rated for a 20k# trailer and load. I run 70psi front and 60 on the rear unless loaded then its 80psi. I have even tyre wear all around. Tyres are 285-70-18's load range E Cooper ATR and get about 60-65 thousand miles on the tyres. Truck weighs in at about 8100# empty

I am sorry for the comments of my fellow Landyzone members!!
I have 32 psi all round for normal driving.
happy fighting!!

We can apologise fior our own comments ta ;)

By the way double posting is a bannable offence ;)

Also 32 psi might suit you but may not suit someone who habbitually carries a large tool kit and or dog in the back.

manual may well give guide lines for pressure but the only sure way is to do a chalk test ;) :D :D :D

It was just a ribbing mate don't take on so. As for your knowledge of cars, 4x4s and Rangies i seriously doubt that. Don't throw gauntlets down you will almost certainly come out second.:):):)

i dont throw gauntlets down to come second, i know for a fact that i would put you to shame, just a pity that most people are deluded to their actual intelligence level when realistically people who pretend to know more than what they think are hiding alot of deep issues about their confidence in knowledge or themselves. ;););). dont worry rmonty i can handle a few jabs of people suffering from a case of inferiority complex.:D:D:D

Ok looks like you will be taking full control of all the problem threads then. Specially if someone needs to know how to blow their tyres up, now that you have found out that is. Your first question told the tale mate, don't try it on it won't work. Anyone who ask a question like that knows fook all.

Erm...how can you know this 'for a fact' if you have never met Wammers or any idea of his experience and qualifications??

Then you go on to say ''most people are deluded to their actual intelligence level''..oh the irony!

My penis is bigger than your IQ..i know this 'for a fact'. See what I did there? No? Never mind...

Very sensible way of doing things Beasty. Think this boy needs to read a few threads before coming the expert. That way he may just find out what some of the old gits as he puts actually do know. Silly lad.

A lot of old gits actually invented this stuff - the young stand on the shoulders of giants.

Perhaps the young genius should submit a subject he's an expert in and see how well he holds up? I suspect he may experience being torn a new arse for the first time...

Wammers never mind him,you and alot more are an asset to this forum, wether your old or young, intelligence isn't measured by age but experience and on top of it keeping uptodate is the key factor that insures continuity, the cup of knowledge never gets full.
