Hello all, put a new thread on as don't seem to be getting much input!(apart from one, thanks v useful)
Bought a 300tdi auto disco with road tyres on, 2 new mitchelin on front, 2 rear are ok on tread but starting to perish. (12months mot so legal) The problem is i need to drive and sometimes tow a water bowser across a (in winter) v muddy field. Im not bothered about changing the wheels as if i dont im going to get them painted (they're colour coded terquiose). I dont want to spend too much, too much spending on other stuff. Had bf goodrich ATs on my 90 which coped well with driving across the field without a bowser and were ok on road but the back end was a bit twitchy when breaking. Have seen some mint freestle alloys with hancook mud terrain tyres fitted for £250 (bit of a bargain i thought) & they are just down the road. But don't know whether these will be suitable for road use? I don't really want to go down the route of changing wheels over all the time (don't have enough time as it is!)
I basically need your noelibile advise on what tyre would be best (compremising) affecting handling, brakeing, mpg etc!!
Also the wheels i have seen are 235/80/16 but the ones i have at the mo are 235/70/16, would this make must difference?
Thanks very much!
