Hi,
i'm a newbie (have just introduced myself in the new member section) and am also pretty new to Land Rovers. My Series III has a set of the Mud Terrain (8 ply) General Super All Grips (which came on it), along with a Radial SAG spare. I cant fault the look they give the Landy and they are certainly amazing on the green lanes round my village but they are completley and utterley insane on the road. Sideways at every bend, lock up at a touch of the brakes and regularly swapping ends if damp and braking hard. It's only a matter of time before I end up in a ditch.
I know they arent intended for use on the road and have searched for threads detailing alternatives but previous classics i've owned have always been cars with standard radials so I dont know much about the Series III wheels and what will fit.
I want to keep the aggressive, but skinny look and not alter the original rims in anyway as the truck is pretty original butI need some tyres that can be used on the road occasionally safely - probably 25/30% of the time.
Can anyone advise what would fit - tubed or tubeless? Whether I shoudl match the spare with General SAG Radials (are these still available anywhere)
Thanks
