Can someone with two Freelander 1's carry out the following test and advise what happens next?

Unlock Freelander 1A
Turn on Freelander 1A's ignition using it's own key, to the second click (electrics only) position
Put Freelander 1A's drivers window down
Close Freelander 1A's drivers door
Lock Freelander 1A with it's own remote fob and put the key 10 meters away
Wait 20 seconds for Freelander 1A's fast flashing alarm light on the dash to flash slowly
Put yer arm through the open window of Freelander 1A and put Freelander 1B's key in Freelander 1A's ignition and turn it to the second click (electrics only) position.

Tell me what happened after putting the wrong key in Freelander 1A after you turned the key to position 2.

(if it explodes it's not my fault)

I'm might be able to check this on Thursday, if that's any good? Does it matter if it's TD4 and a 1.8?
Thanks. Doesn't matter what engine as long as it's a Freelander 1. The effect isn't dangerous. I can tell you by pm what it is if your worried prior to trying it.

I have looked for one of those smileys where it shows two ovens with Hippos head in one and he is encouraging somebody to put theirs in the other...........Not one available for some reason :)

Your probably wondering what I'm up to.

If you lock your Freelander with the remote it does the following:

locks the doors
super locks the doors
enables perimeter sensing (doors/bonnet/tailgate open)
enables the volumetric protection (volume sensing (air movement) inside)
Disables the CDL switch inside (used to lock or unlock the doors from inside)

So if you mistakenly lock yourself in with the remote fob, and put the key in the ignition and turn it, a Freelander 1 will act as if you have pressed the remote fob open button.

This is a valuable test for faulty keys when engines won't start.

So what I need now is someone to do the same test but using a key for their Freelander 1, which they know worked before, but doesn't work now. I would like to know if the "emergency open" thing is mechanical or activated from the magic of a working key.
