Can it be there are TD4 models without a turbo vent filter??? I have the 2005 model and have searched for days (literally) but cannot find any. And believe me, I have spent hours searching for it spread out over two weeks and I have groped with my hands behind the engine for so long I believe my car feels violated.

As I was sure there had to be a filter I never asked about it, just kept looking, but now I found a picture of where the filter should be (or better, where the hose should be connected) and now I notice I have one less hose connected to where it should be.

I found a picture on the internet (uploaded it) where it says pipe number three goes to the filter. I just made a picture of the part in my freelander and there is a small black box on the place I expected the pipe that connects to the filter to be.

Is it just me or did someone replace the hose / filter with that small black box? Or did I lose it for some reason? Or am I more of an idiot then I thought and am I looking at the wrong spot still?

Additionally, the next time I get it on a bridge (or how it is called in English) I am going to look from the bottom up. Maybe I see something from that side. But I am starting to feel someone replaced the hose + filter with something else.

All the f1s I've ever serviced have had the normal filter (Looks like an in line fuel filter), if it was me I would refit an original pipe and filter at least until you know what the box is, any chance of a picture of it I'm curious?

I will try to make a better picture when I get to it from below. I think it is the best way to take a better look at the part. In the second picture (the one from my car) in my first post you can see it, but it is somewhat in the distance. I believe the small black box you see there is at the location the pipe should be.

From your picture what you have got fitted is the ERG solenoid, the black box on the side is the filter. There was a small issue going back a couple of years when L/R had a small batch of ERG solenoids that they labelled as turbo solenoids.
I think the solenoids are the same in operation but on the turbo solenoids they fit the third outlet to get the filter up out of the way.
