Turbo Trouble???

Hey. Occasionally on cold mornings my Freelander Td4 Auto lacks power. (Its a 2004 model with 14k on the clock btw.) I dont know what it is but its so bad that in first gear with the throttle to the floor it only creeps forward on a slight incline off my driveway. This continues and gets so bad that even in rush hour traffic it struggles to keep up and sometimes struggles to pull itself up some hills full stop. I think it could be the turbo because even if you let the engine rev up it doesnt kick in. It usually stays this way for about 5miles until the engine has warmed up. Iv driven a Golf SDI for my burdens ,which has a diesel engine with no turbo as i understand, and it felt very much like the problem wiv my Landie. It does get very annoying and ruins an otherwise great car. Do any of you know what is up or have experienced anything similar?

Sounds like the mass airflow sensor is fauly, try disconecting the wiring plug and the engine will run on a default setting. It is located on the air cleaner housing on the left rear side of the engine looking from the front.

Had similar problems with my turbo, although it's all the time, not just cold weather. Have taken the advise above, and disconnected the wiring to the mass airflow sensor and this seems to have done the trick. Next question is, can I leave this disconnected whilst I get a new sensor? I understand this means the sensor will work at default settings, but what does that mean for performance?

Mine's been disconected for two months and I have more power and economy! I will be having it changed soon as I can't see it being good for the engine in the long run.

OK then. Il keep it in mind for when it nextr does it as it hasnt for a while since its not been cold enough. Next time it does it il try it tho. thanks for your advice neway. cheers.
