Hi all,
My S Reg Freelander's turbo gave up yesterday - clouds of smoke, sucking noises, the beginnings of run away revving....
Got towed to a garage, now being told I can either buy a new one (just a turbo! not a whole car!) for £630 plus £350 on fitting (5 hours labour) plus oil and filter; or I can buy a warrantied reconditioned one for £588 plus fitting/oil/filter; or I can get my turbo collected and reconditioned, which will cost 'up to a maximum of £420, depending on what's wrong with it', then the £350 for fitting plus oil and filter.![Frown :( :(](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

![Eek! ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
I am not a mechanic - is 5 hours about right? Are these prices par for the course? Am trying to get other quotes, but thought I would ask on here too. All advice gratefully received! Thanks a lot
Kat
