hey

Can I just ask. On the turbo air filter there are two ends. Should the filter be connected to two pipes or only one? On my car there is no filter and one pipe has been blanked offf but I’ve see pictures where the filter is only contacted to one pipe with the other end left open????

Do you mean the turbo vent filter? If so, then one end is open to the outside air. I'm pretty sure that you should pay the £2.50 and get yourself a replacement filter ASAP. Can't be good for the turbo.

Thanks yes I mean the vent filter. Where does the other end fit too? I can’t see a pipe at all......

If you mean the end of pipe were the air filter should be after that as far as I know it is not connected to anything

The turbo vent filter is only connected to a pipe at 1 end. The other end is simply left open to the atmosphere. It's sole purpose is to allow filtered air back into the turbo solenoid valve when it de-energies. If unfiltered air is allowed to enter the solenoid valve, then it'll cause sticking and eventually failure of the turbo boost control solenoid.

There is a clip at the rear of the engine that is to hold the pipe which connected to the filter. This clip simply stops the filter hanging to low and fouling on other components, the steering rack being one such item.
