Hi, I was wondering if anyone could share a list of their mods, and the resultant 0-60 times?
Biggest issue with 0-60mph is the driver. It is actually not an easy metric to be able to consistently reproduce. And in an AWD vehicle, one that can be particularly brutal on the vehicle. You'd also need a venue to perform the testings, as any slight incline or hill could impact the results.Hi, I was wondering if anyone could share a list of their mods, and the resultant 0-60 times?
A D1 could be a 3.5 or a 3.9. Big variance in power. Most are autos too. And there was a switch to the electronically controlled auto and serpentine V8's in this period too, which will all change how they perform.I think mine is around 11 or 12, something like that, more than 10 less than 14.
Not saying it is faster, but it feels nippier than a D1 V8 I have driven. But that could be as little as better gearbox control. Plus the D1 was LPG.

Parkers says for a Td5 D2 14.8 - 15.2 sec, the slower being the auto.
Parkers also says a 3.9 D1 is 10.5 sec. Which is substantially quicker. A remapped Td5 should "feel" very peppy due to the big mid range torque. And with similar peak power should be close to the stock V8, but if you are only at a 150hp map, then the V8 should still be quicker.
Willl never be fast from a standstill no matter what you do.
Td5 auto is/was pretty slow to be polite.
Sorry, I should have stated, I'm thinking mainly of manuals, as A: mine is a manual, and B: I am aware the autobox adds an extra layer of lethargy to the disco. I'm not looking for sportscar quick, but I'm curious how much improvement we can achieve to acceleration. I live in a fairly rural location, I'm about 15 miles from my nearest dual carriage way, so I'm wondering how less terrifying overtakes will become if I drop a chunk of change into the engine bay?
The gearing on a V8 auto disco 1 ruins the performance potential anyway. Mine will get to 60 MPH pretty quick for an old crapper, but it'll hold on to 2nd well past that! First gear will go to a bit over 35mph,at 30 MPH, a hard push on the throttle will kick it down first! It's a bit stupid! Racing off from lights is sluggish at first, then it revs hard to about 5500. With decent gearing, I reckon the time would shorten considerably.A D1 could be a 3.5 or a 3.9. Big variance in power. Most are autos too. I agree, shorter gearing would certainly make them more peppy and fun to drive. The balance is against how much high speed cruising you may do.The gearing on a V8 auto disco 1 ruins the performance potential anyway. I really want to change to a 1.4 transfer case to get the gearing down a bit. I spend half the time with it locked in 3rd, and occasionally second, around town.
