Always looking at ways to improve cooling so decided to fit the cowl back over the fan.its a one piece and i can't see a way of it going in while the rad is in place.have i just answered my own question or is there a way of fitting it i am missing.200tdi
Cheers mick .

Only if your climate is torrential rain. 200tdi's are notoriously overcooled so even without a 'Simon' (I actually have no idea what that is) your engine shouldn't be overheating. If it is then you've got other problems

Rain most of the time, in between the showers;).(Simon Cowl) cowl, simon, oh never mind. Not overheating, just running a little hot towing or under load. Have this cowl kicking around in the shed so to get it out of the way, i thought of fitting it.

Oh yeah him. I don't watch tv so didn't make the connection. Is it a disco 200tdi you've got in? As fitting a cowl won't make a great deal of difference, the fan sits further back from the rad

Have a look at kenlowe thermostatic fans. When engine starts getting warm it draws in additional air over the radiator. Maybe worth giving rad and intercooler a good flush

A kenlow might be the way to go. New rad, stat and sender but old intercooler. It only happens towing but sits 3/4 of the way up most of the time.

Maybe intercooler needs a wash out. Hows air filter? They do pick up a lot of crap these days.

The kenlow helps when you are going slow anyway as there won't be much air passing over the fan. You could wire it so its switched instead of temp initiated so when you can see temp rising switch it on or have it on when towing.

Is it a conversion?
If so have you got the right temp sender on? There is a thread although i fitted an after market sender and gauge so i know the exact temperature its running at.
