Those are the "Gutter channel" ....
The canvas tilt ropes around them to stop the water running off the truck cab and down into the rear tub .

Ha I see should they be riveted to the top of the tub?

Every series ive had with a truck cab and tilt on ...theyve just hung over the edge, Though Ive usually filled the gap between the truck cab and gutter with a bit of flexible mastic to stop water getting down the open space .
Obviously IF youre running it open backed then it wont matter .

Well at the moment it will be open backed so prob remove them.
