I have possibly found someone in Derbyshire who can rebuild my engine and gearbox for a reasonable price.

I have a friend with a pickup truck who may be able to get the engine and box there.

Have any of you built any sort of contrpations to hold the engine during transport? I would be interested to see them.

This is for sale on ebay. Would this support the weight of a 2.25 Diesel?

Thanks for any info.

Chunk of wood about 6 inches thick to go under the front of the sump to make it level then four ratchet straps, going out to each corner of the load bed. Bit of ply under back of sump too if its a metal load bed. No more needed.

Picked one up in the back of my VW Passat estate with a bit of wood to chock it up and ratchet straps to hold down.

Personally I throw an old tyre under the engine - supports the front and generally cradles it. Definitely strap it down, though - you do not need a lump that size bouncing about unrestrained.

+1 on the old tyres, worked well to keep gearbox steady when being shifted around. Has a suspension type effect too so stops things breaking going down potholes!

I made this up with a small pallet and some blocks of wood. The idea is that the sump sits in between the stacks of blocks

Hopefully this should be alright ratchet strapped down in the back of my mate's Hilux. Hopefully I may be able to move the engine and gearbox as one if I put some wood under the gearbox.
