Transmission oil cooler thread size?

Did the size of the classic shape (bog brush type) oil coolers change at some point?

I bought a replacent for my leaking one from ebay, but it would appear that the threaded connectors on the new one are approximately one ball hair too big for the nuts on my cars's connecting pipes. My car is a '93.

Puzzled...
