Would any wise head know which type of transfer box goes into a 1996 110 Hi-Cap? My knowledge of later LR's is limited, but I'm assuming that with a 300tdi goes an R380 main box, and then a variant of the LT230 transfer box. Knowing that, in which other LR vehicles, and their model years, would this transfer box be found?

I ask because I've put a deposit on this Hi-Cap with a broken transfer box, and need to know where to look for a replacement before I buy the vehicle. Assuming a replacement is available of course, and wasn't a "special" for that model and year. Such things have been known!

Thanks in advance!

LT230 has been used in just about every 90 and 110 since the mid 80's. They are common as muck and can be found everywhere.

They were also used the the discovery with a taller gear ratio for more relaxed motorway work.

Do you do a lot of towing?... if not you might want to go for a disco box for the taller ratio's

I raised the question about my 2002 HCPU, it seems very low-geared compared to my 90 hardtop, it's possible it may have lower ratio axles.

check t/box as well it should be 1.4 but could be 1.6 it either has a sticker on rear with ratio on it or serial numbers first 3 digits will say what ratio it is
