Well, after the rigmarole of removing the bl**dy thing I've now come to disassemble it and I think I've found the culprit of the loud 'CLUNK' going forward to reverse and back . Now I'm no expert in these matters and have strictly followed the LT230 rebuild manual. I checked the Mainshaft input gear & splines and mine was the cross drilled one which really disappointed me as I thought this was the cause. The gear was tight and there was a lot of beef on the splines and no wear whatsoever .
So on I went removed both front and rear output housings & then the differential assembly and came by accident to look at the hub & sleeve assembly. Moving back and forward on the splines was ok but there is quite an amount of play as you turn it and you can hear a clunk as you turn. Could this be the culprit????
I'v put a video on but you can't hear it as well as you can in the flesh, but you can see the play. Is it known for the teeth to wear and result in that play????
