I'll assume that was aimed at me cos I'm an egotistical cuunt. And your too stoopid to use the quote button.

I always post helpful advice ya jumped up twaat. Take this thread for instance, I've helped save the OP a fook load of unnecessary work and grief removing half his vehicle to do something that only need the removal of approx 10 nuts and bolts. I've helped you realise you haven't got a fooking clue how to remove a transfer box. and I've (inadvertantly) helped the rest of the peeps on this forum to realise what a cock you really are.

Now how fooking helpful have you been?? Twaat!!

And I'm the nasty ****er that helped people by phoning them etc, we are accepting here-we have a variety of people from many different walk of life and they all get on-what the ****s biting you tonto

without wanting to get dragged into this argument about which way is better :p, surly its safter to remove it completly as ur not gonna get squashed by the gearbox should it fall. im sure it would be quiker as jut had to split gearbox and engine to do the clutch and it was an aboslute bi*ch to get the gearbox bak on by meslef. also how easy are the transfer boxes to move into position with the all the body work in place. arnt they quite heavy? :D

Nah gearbox sits on the chassis cross member. and is bolted to the engine so it can't fall. Transfer box weighs a bit but trolley jack sorts that out. I lifted the one out of me disco and carried across the yard on me own without straining too much & I is just an ikkle vertically challenged person.:D

That was my thoughts exactly mate! Although this nob is too mind set in his old man ways and too eeger to make people look like ****s trying to turn others against them!

We could do without pricks like that, life too short :D

transfer box on it's own jack and two people ****es in.
clutch take the engine out is quicker.
Ignore captain **** stain

the tranny box is off centered heavy so it's awkward - if you put some long bolts (with the heads chopped off) into the mounting holes you can offer the box up then slide it along these studs so the seal doesn't get damaged when you refit it - also makes removing it a bit more managable

good point had forgotton ther would stil be the other mounting still in place. as for the engine out being quicker, i would be inclined to agree after my last struggle but some people sed gearbox quicker others sed engine quicker, was bout 50/50 and as engine had bin out recently decided it was the gearboxes turn to move :D

I did my clutch by rigging 2 slings round roof and using 2 ratchet straps to lower/raise gearbox.

yep - or a sling round the roof and a loop of rope down to the box - and a bar through the rope to raise/lower

adopt adapt improve

oh no it isn't :)

think we've had this argument before

Correct but we both agree the gearbox and transfer box do not need to be removed to do transfer box-plus it's a maximum of a mornings work/tea coffee and ****ing about

i used an engine crane thru the door to support the front and a trolly jack to support the bak. held it well, just made it bloody awkward to push it bak onto the engine. still u live and u learn.

yer gotta be a potty head to think taking em both out is easier/quicker/safer - anyone doing that either can't have done many (or any) or is on some sorta work creation scheme

yup & engine hoists dun't move sideways very well does they :D slings is easy cos ya can get it lined up nicely and then just swing the bugger in mine slid home 1st attempt. And then swung back off cos I din't think to put something behind it to hold it in place

no they dnt swing well and they tend to get in the way of the trolly jack and stop it moving forward with the gearbox as i found out with a loud bang!!:doh::doh:
