Earlier this year I started trailing with Buxton and district Landrover club at my local quarry for abit of fun and soon realised my pretty standard 90 wasn't in the same league as the other trucks there, which were mostly specialist built trucks just for trailing, now I don't want to have an exclusive offroad motor but the 90 is going to be just for fun and adverse weather green laning pay and plays and then trials and challenges :) this means there will be a few more creature comforts :)

Anyway at the first trial I managed to destroy my front cv's which basically started the whole build in progress :) so the first change was 10 spline axles off and discovery 24 spline axles on :)

And new axle on with colourful arms and components thanks to my mate Haslam :rolleyes:

Then it was the same for the back axle and I now had strong axles under the beauty :)
 
Anyway the next problem I found was that all terrains just wouldn't cut it on mud and side slopes as I almost got stuck up a slippery hill before we even started trailing :rolleyes:

So then some new tyres were in order :) so I shelled out for a set if maltasier Kaimans, they are the same pattern as simex, fedma ect but cheaper at the same money as special tracks but with significantly more side wall grip :)

I got some wheels off of a friend and cleaned them up :)

They are brilliant tyres and would definitely recommend them :)
 
Next came a suspention change :) WLM ;)
Thanks to some advice from jai Landrover I went for range rover classic heavy duty rear springs, they have a 3 inch taller free height than standard and at 176 ft/lb/in they are softer than standard springs thus giving a 2" lift and softer more supple suspention to aid traction :) and pro comp +2 air shocks :) gotta say from a recent Bala trip the grip and suspention is brilliant :) few upgrades I need to do did location cones, greater travel joints ect but that will come later :) anyway

Now that there are no more trials until the new year I have some time to get some serious work done, I'm getting her caged and better protected overall, so firstly I need to truck cab her and fix the rusty bulk head :)

The cage shall be made by tornado Motorsport as I trial with him and he's 5 minutes down the road :D plus does an awesome job :)

I shall be making challenge wings for the front aswell for strength :)
 
Today received my next part of the project courtesy of press brake :)
When I left Bala my mate was following me in his hilux I stopped and his brakes well, didn't so a new crossmember was required so on the press take for a 6mm heavy duty one with recovery points jacking points and a slot for a rear winch in the future, well it finally arrived today

Good to see you went with a pressbrake X-member have heard/read good things about them and they seem to be the only choice!!

Haha yeah I did what top gear couldn't ;)

Yeah even with all the extras it was still better priced than a standard 3mm one and looks brilliant quality :) gives me a chance to wash the chassis out too ;)
 
good work there sound be good when done ;) will watch this space... and LOL at your mate in the hilux ouchhhhh having to buy 2 !

Here's the roof you can see the dent on the back from we're I slid into a tree :rolleyes:

There is also a smaller scrape above the drivers door but apart from that its ok
150 with the roof 120 without ? If you don't want the roof ill make it into a kick ass sledge ;)
