Your dad showed me this on Saturday, looks and sounds awesome
do you use amazon 4x4?
Breakers
New axles
Not going to be on soon but at least I can get them ready before they go on now
Had a play with the suspension and decided the front flex is ****
So I might create a 3/4 link front while im at axle building although ive never been held back before with axle flex so I dunno
Anyway on with front wings today just making a template
Erm no ? what are they ?
*Cough* Copy cat
But seriously, good choice!
I'm going to finish my axle build one day.. got most the parts for it, just need more time in my life!
You thought about a 1 link?
Also what you gona do on the rear, if your going to stay with the Aframe I have the weld in bung for the ball joint which I'm not using now.
They're the best choice overall I think sailsburys are silly expensive and weigh more, and dont give you any kore steering lock which is the main thing I want
Yeah me and the guy who dropped them off talked about suspension, he talked about a 1 link which give crazy articulation but probably wouldn't be as stable as standard set up, id like yo do KOV next year so speed is a big part of that... well have to see
Yeah keeping rear a frame for now does that bung create the mount for the a frame or just fill in the holes from the watts linkage ?
Yea the steering lock gain is a big bonus!
1 links are very stable as they give the same characteristics as radius arms. There's a guy on fb who did kov with 1 link up front... work well from what I understand. Therea lots of them Out there.
The bung is a tapered bit that u wend to the axle which accepts the ball joint like a normal axle. I was going to weld it in a hole on top of the axle on the flat part before I went 4 link. (Bare in mind that flat part is not level so needs to be welded at a slight angle to compensate)
Should be ok
I think they can be fussy about where tho
A few years back there was some talk on having noting attached to a cage structure but they seem
To have relaxed and took a breath. Otherwise front wing bars and other bits were an issue and how situ buid a space frame to MSA spec.
Ps I'd you change suspension mounts from std the regs go out the window for ALRC.
KOV run different yank cage regs Ultra 4 regs You need a cross bar side protection bar for example from memory.
Problem is one build cannot do it all as ever, add to that making it road legal depending on year then your always building a compromise.
Young Ed Barnes took part in his trialer in 2013 did ok we suggested he weld his rear diff which he did but the front he blew a shaft. He overtook a few modified motors but utimaty got stuck when he blew a shaft/diff the edited footage showed him being overtaken and never him going past other £££ trucks. Not bad for 33 inch 80 inch trialer
Wish you good luck and spend some £££ on shafts even the later axles a set of 300m shafts should be ultra reliable. Fact you have a v8 its a lot smoother power delivery than a harsh snatch the clutch diesel if it's auto even better less aggressive.
