Pmsl! :hysterically_laughi I did think it was a bit odd, I thought you had a plan for it lol
Cut back to good metal and TIG weld a new piece of sheet ally on ?
If not what you're planning to do is what I'm going with as I cba welding it up, drivers side on mine is gone so that ones going to be fun to do ..
Wait, you're back evil !!
Just take th spring out and fit the shock and slowly lower the chassis down, you're supposed to be able to reach your chosen bump stop before the shock bottoms out
And then obviously you want similar downward travel or more.
That's how I'd be doing it anyway, unless I was choosing shock length aswell in which case it's up to you how you position it regards its length and where you want to rest position to be, but the common parameter is full bump on the shock should be just after you get to the bump stop, which should be just before your coils bind!
quick but stupid question that i think i already know the answer to, do +5 shocks fit on standard shock mounts with +2 springs ?
doing some measuring i only have 60mm of upward travel on the rear shocks as it stands now but 200mm of downward and id prefer closer to 50/50 split
geometry is hard ..
