Hi all newbie here first of all happy new year. secondly I have a 2001 p38 dhse I recently stopped for fuel got back in the car started it. got a beeping from the dash followed by a message abs traction control fault I had a local non 4x4 garage plug a snap on diagnostics tool in and got the fault code 149 no traction to valve -(short to battery) any ideas thanks

Hello and welcome:)
Sounds like battery voltage went down when you started it, first rule of range rover diagnostics is to start with a known good battery then go from there.
best to post tech questions in the range rover section of the forum you will get all the help you need and if Wammers answers listen carefully and note.

As above, Welcome and as its a P38 check the battery first. When my battery goes down the first thing that comes up is Traction control and the dreaded beep beep beep. Chances are that a good overnight charge will fix the issue or a good long and I mean long run if the alternator is in top form.
