fook off ill get the garage to do mine... I cannae afford the fuel losses.

I kid you not - i honestly needed lanes 1 & 2, and the hard shoulder, jus to keep it in a straight line. That was at 40 MPH...

The reason it was twitchy was because of the excessive toe out, as the weight transfered to each wheel in turn then that wheel wanted to go its own way,
egarding fuel consumpion and tyre resistance on the road,, My drag Mini was set absolutely parallel because the suspension bushes were solid and there was no movement on acceleration to alter the toe and wheels set straight ahead gave least resistance.

Landy has a solid axle so no altering toe on acceleration or braking,, wheels ahead give least resistance.

Toe in makes for safe handling from the factory so no suprises and safe understeer if anything on slippery surfaces.

Toe out makes for sharper turn in but can induce the back end to come round on slippery surfaces so we dont want that straight from the factory.

Straight ahead in my opinion is best considering that the back end is straight ahead as well unlike some saloon cars which have a little toe in to promote understeer in the wet and prevent the lift off oversteer that some hot hatches are prone to.

Am I talking rubbish..? maybe but I'm doin mine straight ahead and f*ck the factory settings, I'll let you know if I crash or wear me tyres out:D

once had a series one with fooked splines on the steering relay. that made for interesting driving left turns were a joke

:) i know why the handling was buggered... I didn't know about the other bits though.

I would be sure that your steering system doesn't toe out under load, theres a lot of joints to have a lot of play in.

Let me know how it goes - id love to remove some of the horrenous understeer my car has.

Dont know what car it is but your probably stuck with a fixed toe and camber on the back so check that the front isn't toed in.
A bit of toe out will help stop understeer and improve turn in but it's trial and error I'm afraid.
The 205 will have lift off oversteer built in as standard by Pug  cause it was a compromise with the set up, Minis are great cause you can set it all up cheap and make it do what you want with a few tweaks, change the standard Mini rear from toe in to straight ahead and instantly the car is transformed with no understeer and the back end a lot looser so you can get the tail out on the bends, toe the front out as you wish to improve turn in but beware of oversteer, all great fun:D

sorry by car i meant the LR. Will the tracking affect the understeer on it? It only ever oversteers if you are REALLY giving it some, and only then really in the dry.

Probably understeers cause its toed in.

J D kicking in now:D

Try marking where it is and toeing it straight or a bit out , you can allways go back.

Why are you driving that fast anyway, its a land raover..hic:D
