Towing to Spain

Towing to the south of Spain this coming week with the td5,and a 1500 kg trailer
Getting the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, just had a new injector pump fitted,should I be looking for any potential problems be for we set off

As long as its been maintain it shouldn't be a problem inc trailer

1500kg is less than half of full towing capacity so should be a breeze

If it hasn't been serviced within the last 3 months I would be giving it an engine service with new oil and filter & new air filter. I would check the tyre pressures, check the coolant level and that's about it.

Make sure you have a spare bulb kit and some hi-viz tabards with you - you DO NOT need breath test kits any longer, the law changed recently.

that's towing to the ferry not towing to Spain lol the boat will tow it for you

Re: Breath test kits,does that apply to France as well Dave? Have they changed ? I was just about to buy more for next month.

nah the law has been scrapped all you need in France is hi-viz and triangle,the hi-vizmust be kept in reach of driver not in the boot ,the idea is you put it on before leaving the car one for each person in the car .

Look out for other drivers waving and trying to get you to stop on the pretext that there is a problem with your outfit. If you don't already know this ploy has been going on for a few years now and some drivers do stop and have been robbed . We returned from Spain ,Santandar/ Plymouth last week ,1800kg van and Disco2 from Almeria. Have a good journey.
