Just wondered how other peoples disco's performed when towing a caravan or simaler? I pull a caravan with a weight of 1340kg, up long inclines on motorway its down to 45mph flat out? sometimes dropping to 3rd then back to 4th, my question is am i expecting too much from it or should it do better than this? its fine on the flat it will accelerate up to 60 plus no probs?

Towed all over Scotland with my disco1 auto. Excellent tow car. Kept getting told off by SWMBO for going too fast.
Good tip on long drags is to keep the auto in 3rd which will lock up and stop hunting.
My works Td5 manual in 1998 was also a great tow car.
Can,t say much more but that is my experience

What remap does it have?

It dont have a map and is standard and in my opinion its flat! especially towing, and am only towing half its capacity

Our Disco 2 tows our 1560kg twin axle easily. Last year we towed it down to spain near Torrevieja and it coped great. we have left it there so only need to tow the wife's horse trailer now.

TD5 should cope, although being automatic doesn't help. Manual box has 5 speeds, auto only has four.

We tow 3500kg regularly, but with a V8, that extra grunt makes a big difference at the top weight.

Just bought a P38 Vogue 4.6 which is auto, be interested to see how that copes.

I hope you don't mind me asking, what sort of caravan is that? It looks like a 5th wheel variant.

6-wheel drawbar turntable trailer, Brian, there's a link in my signature to the build blog.

I think it is all working, we had a hosting change from a Windows server to Linux, and Linux is case-sensitive, so some sections weren't working.

If you have problems, use the USA mirror site:
