I've just bought an s type towbar socket kit off fleabay for my 2001 td5 es, however, it didnt come with an instructions for fitting (got it off the craddocks ebay shop and paid £18 instead of £61)
Just wondered if anyone had instructions on how to fit. Part number is STC8874
Thanks, Paul

These might help. There is a socket behind the paneling in the rear O/S corner and you can buy the proper plug from LR or ou can do what I did and cut the socket off and use a strip off connector blocks.

Which I hope you have since replaced with the correct fitment;) :D

That is the correct fitment. you can't beat connector blocks. not like those nasty blue things. all screwed down nice and tight and taped up. Nice and dry in the O/S C pillar. with the socket mounted in the back door out of the way of all that nasty mud & road crap

Snigger:D :D :D :p

is that a small by-pass relay or a buzzer? and pikey if yer gonna do it then do it right and solder the joints
I figure its the relay from what I can make out cause all the writng on it is in foreign lingo.
12v doppel-relais with 2 sets of numbers on it with what looks like 2switch diagrams. The numbers on both are 30, 85, 86 & 87. Its a "Hella" brand.

heres yer wire stuff numbered from 1 - 7

Yellow Reversing Light
Blue Ignition 12V supply
White Earth
Green Continuous 12V supply
Brown Spare
Red Fridge
Black Spare

The full Instructions for this kit are on the RAVE CD, no soldering required as plugs into existing connectors in fuse board, behind O/S rear light & battery. One word of caution though, LR in their wisdom have powered the relays from the Aux feed on the fuse board this means that the Batt / Fridge supply is live when the Aux on the IGN is turned on (ie Radio) rather than the convential way of when the Engine is running with a + charge from the Alternator - just need to be carefull in order not to run the Battery down. Fitting takes a couple of hours - mainly laying under the vehicle feeding the cable loom down the chassis.

Thanks for that, very helpfull. Is there not anyway of redirecting the power for the relay away from the uax on the ignition and rerouting it in the conventional way. This rave CD, where do I get one of those? Thanks agin, Paul
