Some 3 years later and still enjoying my S3 88" Station. So much so I'd like to take it out more for trips with a couple of bikes on a bike rack. Thing is, the tow-ball is far too close to the rear door; it should be another 25cm/10" further out so i can mount the rack and the handlebars of the bike remains clear of the rear door. I've come across this:

Seems like a quick and easy fix; anyone have experience with this? Found it on Ebay. It would have to hold this bike rack, a EUFAB which clamps over a tow-ball.

Experiences, alternatives, advice, opinions very welcome of course.

that sounds scary! the weight of 2 bikes plus carrier can be a fair bit.. on an extension will be amplified
I was thinking that too, particularly as the bikes are e-bikes as well. The bike rack works in the same way; with a lever the ball gets clamped. Curious if anyone has axctually used a solution like this and what are the experiences...

There's a receiver type adapter available for a series, bolts on what the standard plate goes and has the US style square hitch socket, takes a hitch, or whatever accessory you like. No idea if it's legal or not for towing, but no reason you can't use it for a bike rack.

remember if you obscure the registration plate the plod will be pulling you over unless you fit a tail board

That might be a real threat in the Netherlands but around here, we don't see the Police at all for any kind of traffic offences and almost all trailers seem to be independently registered as the plates never match the car :)
