Have stuck a new plug on my electrics today so got me caravan working fine on the indicators brakes etc....fitted a new earth and all good. Now taped in the loom was a longer purple(thick), black(thick) and orange a green(thin)

Now am getting cocky, does anyone think/now if these are for the twin electrics plug (long since gone)? Would an 89 90 have a twin elecrics built in or are they for something else.

To be honest am not bothered to much put for the cost of a plug am happy to wire twin for the caravan!:D

Recycled fred alert...

So I have two towing plugs 7 and 13 pin. I'm sure my trailer board is 7 pin? Can I just tie wrap the 13 pin behind the rear crossmember as I only want to mount one plug on the tow bar bracket

13 pin euro socket is now subject to MOT test. So long as it complies, should not be a problem tying it out of the way.

Why not fit the 13 pin one in position (it is a lot better quality connector) and use a 13 to 7 pin adaptor when you need to tow a 7 pin trailer? This type of thing, lots of variants available

That is an option I suppose, point of the fred as I don't really know the difference between 13 and 7.
A fully wired 13 does everything that a 12N and 12S does (the black and grey 7 pin connectors) in one good quality connector. 12N & 12S are prone to corrosion issues etc. I would never go back to them after using the 13 pin for the last 10+ years
