Touch screen not allowing optical signal to cd player

So, the plot thickens, I have checked the fibre optics, made sure they are orientated the correct way,
I stripped everything out of the back and switched the car on, I still get no signal in the back unless I bypass the touch screen,
I’m going to plug everything in at the back and see where I get the optical signal, if it doesn’t come out of any of the modules I will bypass it and hopefully narrow it down,
What worries me, is in all the videos I’ve seen and all the stuff I’ve read they didn’t need to bypass the touch screen,

well, i spent a few hours on it yesterday, ripped everything out the back compartment, checked that the optical cables to the touch screen were oriented the correct way, they were, i checked the cables to the power supply plug to the screen against the picture of the pins, mine is the same plug but i have nowhere near as many wires and some are oriented differently to the diagram,
still only getting a signal in the back compartment if i fit the bypass plug to the touch screen, when i finish work today i am going to fit everything back into the rear compartment and with the bypass fitted to the touch screen i will check the optical supply to each module in the rear and see if something else in the system is faulty and possibly preventing the signal to pass the touch screen, i ran out of time yesterday, i did try it but didn't have anything connected to power, so guessing that is why the signal wouldn't pass certain modules, not sure if they need to be powered up to allow the signal to pass through it,

Pretty sure they all need power to pass the light through. The light only goes in one direction in a loop so if it's going to the screen but not out (unless bypassed) then that has to be the problem. There is something in the manual that says new units need to be coded into the ECU as they are addressable on the network but I've never heard of anyone having to do it.

cheers for that bud, it makes it better to have someone who knows the system to bounce ideas off of, the SDD diagnostic software i ordered arrived yesterday and i have set it up on my laptop now, so will get everything connected later and see if that pics up any issues on the MOST system, if it reads that system at all,
there are a few other bits i need to do with it anyway, change the CCF file for the easy entry as the motor carries on after the column moves and i need to see why my mirrors aren't folding, i can live with that lot though, it's not having radio or the screen that that's doing my head in, as without it i can't even set my clock lol

I'm no eggspurt on these beasts, just read the manual a few times and being an engineer for over 40 years gives you a certain perspective when tracing faults.
